«Clearly there are other worlds, that’s for sure; but, as I have said many sometimes these other worlds are in ours, they reside on earth and precisely in the center of the dome of the Dalí Museum, where the whole new unsuspected and hallucinatory world of surrealism is».
House of Salvador Dalí
The Portlligat House-Museum was the only stable house of the artist, where he lived and worked until the death of his wife Gala in 1982, when he changed his residence to the Castle of Pub.
The house is the result of forty years of effort and dedication. For Dalí Portlligat it was a very special place, and he himself defined it like this:
«Portlligat is the place of the realizations. It’s the perfect place for me work. Everything is conjured up to make it so: time passes more slowly and every hour has its fair share dimension. There is a geological tranquility: it is a unique planetary case».

During the 80’s it became the artist’s workshop, as he himself was responsible for decorating the interior, creating pictorial representations on the walls and ceilings, and creating a sober and delicate atmosphere. One of Dalí’s most important works that you can explore in this castle is in the basement mausoleum, where his wife Gala is buried.
